Children's performer Dan Jones put the compilation together out of a desire to help the Haitian people, of whom he has personal friends and a deep love for the culture. Most of the music on this recording is previously unreleased, featuring songs by such diverse artists as Dan Zanes, Pete Seeger, Elizabeth Mitchell, Rani Arbo, They Might Be Giants and many others, from a wide range of musical backdrops. For example, "Activity" from Bonga and the Vodou Drums of Haiti is a percussive feast with a kids theme, while Secret Agent 23 Skidoo offers family-friendly hip-hop and Jonathan Coulton grabs attention with his whimsical hook-driven alt-rock. Proceeds from this release will benefit the Haitian People's Support Project and their long-standing work to help the people of Haiti.
