James Coffey trades railroads for the wild kingdom on ANIMAL GROOVE, a collection of original tunes themed after animals who like to dance and have fun. What hasn't changed is the artist's knack for colorful lyricism designed to grab a child's fancy; kids can to sing along to songs about bears doing the boogie woogie, bunnies hoppin' and waddling penguins while groovin' along to the upbeat arrangements. Some of the more entertaining tracks include "Jellyfish Jump," an energetic rockabilly number with an Elvis-themed jellyfish in the lead and "Calypso Clam," where folk sounds mix with island themed music. Of course, it wouldn't be a Coffey album without a nod to trains and "Animal Train" fits the bill, describing a zoo-type transport with a plethora of animals riding the rails.
